Circle of Safety

A gentleman in a dark
business suit
takes his place at the table,
choosing whatever seat
pleases his momentary
urge...
He must be paid
close attention
since he means business.
Too serious, you might say,
until he can't decide
whether to yawn or say hello.
Then things get silly
and,
dignity lost, he retreats
into a circle of safety.
