you need to earn
every foothold
and feel the rise of your
body
getting closer to the summit,
hidden from view.
One assumes there's a peak,
but attention must
be payed to the
boot jammed into a crevice.
It is here, upon the finite
space of a rocky ledge,
that all the rest
will be determined.
